Research

Research is one of the key activities of the Lung Association of Saskatchewan.

Remarkable progress has been made in lung health as a result of research, especially in Saskatchewan. Because of the support of people like you, we have funded hundreds of research projects right here in Saskatchewan since the Lung Association movement started in Saskatchewan in 1911 as the Anti Tuberculosis League -- research projects whose sole purpose is to improve the lives of those affected by breathing disorders.

These projects fall into four categories:

Professorship Program - designed to recruit the best and the brightest to Saskatchewan through a research stipend that allows them to devote time to lung research.

Fellowships - to provide post-doctoral students with funding for research training in Saskatchewan institutions.

Research grants - to help medical professionals conduct project-specific research, such as immunotherapy for the treatment of allergic lung diseases like tuberculosis.

Other programs - like visiting professorships, training grants, national research projects coordinated from Saskatchewan, TB control projects, patient education programs and continuing professional education.

Medical professionals can apply for research funding. Please review the general conditions for awards of research grants.

Become a SK Thoracic Society member for an opportunity to apply to the Lung Association Continuing Education Travel Fund.
